Refresh on the Wall Easel

andreagarveyart

When my friend Renee Mueller told me that she loved my wall easel so much, she would make one for her studio and paint it white. I thought, "wait! why didn't I paint mine white?"

So on Saturday, I did just that. It took me over 3 hours to paint this easel as I used a small brush (I didn't think about that one!), and it needed two coats of paint.

I liked how the pine strips matched the ceiling and tied it together, but I also thought the cross lines were a bit distracting when I hung up multiple paintings, especially in photos and videos. Plus the white would also allow all my colors to pop right off the wall!

The paint color is "Swiss Coffee," and it's from Kelly Moore. I'm using a satin finish. We love this color; the inside of the studio and house are both painted in this creamy white.

At first, I was a bit nervous about painting over this beautiful wooden wall easel as these panels are from the original walls in our house from 1940. But I soon got over that when I saw how beautiful it looked. So bright and airy.

Also, you may notice that I have my 2021 Vision Board hung on this easel as a reminder to stay "focused". That was my word for this year. If you are interested in creating your own board I offer a free class here:

Here is a photo from the original wall easel and if you would like to read the blog post on how we built it hop over to this post: https://www.andreagarvey.com/post/my-favorite-kind-of-art-easel

Have a great week! xo Andrea

It’s always hard to paint over beautiful knotty pine boards... but hey the change of perspective is worth the adventure... and it looks like your’s was a refreshing success.
